The O.C.

For those that didn’t catch it in the comments section, or on Michele Ellson’s site, SunCal has uploaded their filed complaint to their website. A few interesting things that were pointed out to me.  One I had already noticed and that was that SunCal had opted to file their case in a federal court in [...]

In 3D

Did everyone catch the Wall Street Journal article on the Alameda Theatre?   It was a bit of a fluffy piece, but nice nonetheless.    However, the photo of the theater exterior is clearly an older photo because it doesn’t have the bulb outs that were built in to protect the marquee from Pepsi trucks. Alameda Theater to Give $5,000

The tally is in.
We don’t know how many romantic embraces there were after the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex hosted its February 13 gala “Valentine’s Rock,” but we do know how much money was raised for local and other charities: $5,000.
And on April 2, these funds will be given to the Alameda Education Foundation, the Boys & [...]

Slide by Slide, bonus!

So, one plan that I sort of glossed over but never fully discussed as part of the Civic Center Vision was the redesign for the Elks Club, City Hall, and Police Department Parking lots.

This is a view of the historic Fire Station from the City Hall parking lot.   The consultants are suggesting keeping it. [...]

According to Interim City Manager, Ann Marie Gallant, this all came about because of the Council Referral item to analyze what could be done with the Carnegie Library given that the previous plan to [...]

Alamedans Rock at Valentine’s Eve Event

Valentine’s Rock was just what the sweethearts around town were hoping for.
The event, which took place on February 13 in the lobby and main theater of the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex, aimed to raise money for several local charities while treating guests to a great (and romantic) time.
Judging from the photo above and the buzz around [...]

Visual aids

If you didn’t catch this on Alameda Daily Noose, it’s too funny not to mention.  If anyone caught a movie at the Alameda Theatre over the holidays you probably were subjected to the really lame video of the Mayor beseeching folks to “Shop Alameda.”  The movie then took a strange turn and featured school kids [...]

Lump on Kohl’s

While I was watching for the whole pot club ordinance business  (continued until January by the way) at Monday night’s Planning Board meeting, I instead got sucked into the whole business of extending truck delivery hours for a few businesses at Alameda Towne Centre (Safeway, Walgreens, Panera, Big 5).   Essentially these businesses were arguing [...]

Count on it

Here is how the signature verification is going to shake down.    We can talk about how the signature gatherers misrepresented themselves or that they lied or about how terrible the whole initiative process is, but unless someone is going to file an official complaint in the form of a lawsuit, the certification process will [...]
